Overview
Project overview
The practice master planned and designed a new campus for the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development at Khairpur, laid out over two plots of 35 and 27 acres and holding 185,913 sq ft of building.
A skills university is not a lecture university. Its academic block of 127,694 sq ft has to take workshops and equipment as well as classrooms, which sets floor loadings, ceiling heights and servicing that a conventional teaching block would not carry. Around it sit the administration block, a library and online information centre, and a hostel for fifty bachelor teachers.
The residential quarter is planned separately from the non-residential one, with bungalows and single-storey quarters. Separating the two lets the academic side keep working hours and the residential side keep domestic ones, and gives the campus somewhere to grow without building over its own housing.
