Project overview
The University of Sindh appointed the practice to master plan and design the strengthening and upgrading of its academic facilities at Jamshoro — 322,665 sq ft in all, built as ground plus three.
The academic block of 185,235 sq ft holds the Faculty of Social Sciences, an information technology service centre at the Institute of Information, Computer and Technology, and an administration block containing the Students Financial Aid Office, ORIC and QEC together with a training hall. A herbarium and botanical garden at the Institute of Plant Sciences was built alongside them.
Hostels take 300 female students, 300 male students and a separate Working Women Hostel. Where a university adds six hundred resident students it is really adding a small settlement, and the accommodation is planned for the movement and safety that follows rather than treated as an annexe of the teaching estate. The practice carried the work through to project management and detailed supervision.
