Founder / 1945 — 2020

Engr. Nazar Siddiqui

He founded the practice in Karachi in 1981 and put it on the register of the Pakistan Engineering Council on 4 June 1982 — a civil engineer out of NED in 1971, with eleven years in large multidisciplinary consultancies behind him.

He set the office up to carry a commission whole, from the survey to the engineer on site, and led it for thirty-nine years. He served on technical committees of the Pakistan Engineering Council and as Vice President of the Association of Consulting Engineers, Pakistan. His account is on the founder’s page.

Chief Executive

Engr. Atif Nazar Siddiqui

Chief Executive. He read civil engineering at Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology in Karachi and took his master's at NED.

The direction of the practice sits with him and his brother, and every commission on this site is taken under their signature — hospitals for the Pakistan Navy and the Governments of Sindh and Balochistan, campuses at Khairpur, Jamshoro, Muridke and Uthal, civic buildings in Karachi, and the city's road, drainage and coastal schemes.

The practice's first work outside Pakistan — the medical school for the Maldives National University at Hulhumalé — was taken during his tenure. He is Vice President of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys' Association.

Managing Director

Engr. Wasif Nazar Siddiqui

Managing Director, and the running of the office day to day is his. He read civil engineering at Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology and took a master's at NED in engineering management — which is the discipline he practises.

He has contributed to the Pakistan Engineering Council's Standard Bidding Documents Committee, the body that drafts the contracts Pakistani public procurement runs on. The terms he helps write are the terms this practice then tenders under.

He is Honorary Secretary of the Association of Consulting Engineers, Pakistan — the association his father served as Vice President — and Joint Secretary, Sports, of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys' Association.

International standing

Elected a board member of FIDIC Asia Pacific. He is the first Pakistani to serve on any board of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers — neither the federation, founded in 1913, nor its Asia Pacific body, founded in 1995, has had one before. FIDIC publishes the contract suite used on most World Bank and Asian Development Bank funded work: the procurement environment this practice competes in.

The office

Every discipline under one contract

At Gambat and at PNS Shifa a single appointment covered the master plan, the architecture, the structural and MEP engineering, the roads and the supervision on site. That is how the founder set the office up, and it is why a client deals with one consultant rather than co-ordinating five.

Disciplines can also be taken singly. Each is set against the projects that evidence it on the services page.

  1. 01Master planning
  2. 02Architecture
  3. 03Structural engineering
  4. 04MEP engineering
  5. 05Infrastructure and road engineering
  6. 06Project management
  7. 07Construction supervision and quality assurance
  8. 08Highways and bridge engineering
  9. 09Dredging and marine works

The practice has held multi-discipline registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council since 2009, and is registered with the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners. The registration particulars are on the about page.
