Bakhtiari Youth Centre, North Nazimabad

Bakhtiari Youth Centre is a major public sports facility in North Nazimabad that has deteriorated over time. The practice prepared a master plan for the Karachi Development Authority to renovate and re-plan it across 667,773 sq ft.

The proposal keeps and upgrades the existing cricket grounds and adds futsal grounds, basketball and tennis courts, gymkhana buildings, indoor sports areas, leisure space, jogging tracks and organised parking. The gain is in the circulation as much as the facilities: a ground that people cut across is a ground nobody maintains, and the plan gives the site defined access, security and a boundary it can hold.

This is a design proposal. The practice's appointment covers the architectural design; it is not a construction commission.
