Project overview
The indoor sports complex at PNS Rahbar covers 47,150 sq ft over ground plus one, and holds the training and recreation programme of the Naval Academy under one roof.
A 50-metre swimming pool with its lockers and changing areas sets the building's dimensions. Around it are a common court marked for basketball, volleyball and badminton, two squash courts, a boxing ring, a gymnasium and a wall-climbing area, with a first aid room close enough to reach quickly from any of them. A VIP room, guest room, lounge and cafeteria with kitchen take the occasions when the academy hosts rather than trains.
The building presents strong horizontal massing with a grand entrance porch and rhythmic columns, under the red sloping roof and grey-toned façade used across the campus.
